Minho is the most verdant region in Portugal. Great people, wonderful food and fabulous green, rolling hills. The natural parks, the old cities and the historical churches have the best scenarios for a wedding in Portugal. Minho is the Portuguese region where more weddings happen every year. The tradition is stronger, and weddings are more classic.

So, why should you get married here?

It only takes 30 minutes to get from the nearest airport to the center of the main city – Braga.
Braga has several great monasteries, and all kinds of century-old architectural churches. You can get married in Sameiro, with a spectacular view over the city, or in the church of Bom Jesus, one of the most popular for weddings.  Here, the surroundings are green and the hundreds of stairs in front of the church make it the idyllic place for a gorgeous wedding photo shoot.

In Bom Jesus you can find 3 great hotels, a park, a lake with small wood boats, and a wedding venue with a stunning view over the city. If you decide to get married here, one thing is for sure: it will be pretty memorable!
Right in the center of the city you have an iconic cathedral called Sé of Braga. Dating from the 3rd century AD, it’s the city’s main church and also its biggest. Many couples have chosen this beautiful setting to get married. Braga’s cathedral is where the most important, as well as the most traditional weddings are celebrated. You can only marry here if you are Catholic.

Braga has many fabulous wedding venues: you can get married on a historic farm, in a hotel, or even in a historic hotel like Pousada Santa Maria de Bouro: an old monastery that has been transformed by a Pulitzer-prized architect into a dazzling hotel. This hotel is located near one of the most popular natural parks in Portugal: the Peneda-Gerês park. The perfect place to get married and also enjoy a great honeymoon. This park has a lagoon where you can swim or enjoy water sports, but if you want, you can go a little further and you’ll find idyllic lagoons, waterfalls, and all kinds of activities such as horseback, riding, bird watching, picnic areas…

You can also choose a SPA hotel, far away from it all, and just enjoy a few days of calm. The smallest hotel in the world is also in Braga – a hotel for just for 2 - can you imagine a better concept for a honeymoon?   If you are a fan of architecture you can also do a great tour around Braga’s most iconic places.

In this region you have one of the best wedding industries in Portugal – a lot of dream weddings are celebrated here… it’s certainly a place of happy moments.
